Centreat acharge. ForflightsnotoperatingalonganATS route, estimatedelapsed
timesshouldbeprovided for locationsapproximately30minutesor200nmapart.
If acommonname isentered intoNAIPS in lieuof aerodromeabbreviationor
navigational aid/waypoint, theflightnotificationoutputwill assume that theaircraft
is trackingover anavigational aid/waypoint andnot theaerodrome; eg, the location
HOLBROOKwill translate toHBK, notYHBK.
Pilotsenteringdetails in termsof latitudeand longitudeorby theuseofbearingand
distancemust adhere to thecorrect format. Locationabbreviationsshouldbe the
published inAIPabbreviations.
In instanceswhereNAVAID training is required, butdiversion toanalternate
aerodrome for that training is likely, andwhenproceduresat thealternative location
require thesubmissionofflightnotification, thepilotwill be required toprovide
detailsofboth locations in Item15 (Route), expanded in Item18(a). Forexample,
for anaircraft requiringPILSateitherSydney, or alternativelyRichmond:

Item18(a)will showSYPILSor RICPILS. Pilotsnot formally required to submit
flight notification, or leave aflight note asdefined in theprecedingparagraph,
areneverthelessencouraged to leave aflight note as shownonpage191.
Pilots of VFRflightsmust includePOBwhen submitting flight notification
orwhen leaving a flight note and are encouraged to notifyATSof any
subsequent changes.
