Hello fellow students,

This one has me intrigued. Helicopter vmc is clouds below 1000ft BKN or OVC and below 3000m visibility. You have to make sure your planned aerodrome is suitable for this. That is my question. Is it just a matter keeping clear of ground (500) and if it is over a populous area (1000) you can't do it?

Cheers

(edit) a buddy of mine showed me something in Online Aviation theory. The course notes say helicopter vmc is not allowed over populous areas or in controlled airspace. I haven't found the applicable paragraph in the AIP yet. This suffices as an answer for me though.
