Dan created the topic: Calculating true airspeed errors.

Hi Bob, Stuart and John,

Can you please calculate the 2 following questions for me and let me know the answer you get?. My answer is off by 2 knots on these questions and I want to figure out if the question is slightly inaccurate or my flight computer is dodgy...

PH 9000, OAT -15, CAS 170kt
PH 15,000, OAT -20, CAS 130kt

Answers in the book are
1. 190kt TAS
2.162kt TAS

My computer says

1.188kt TAS
2. 160kt TAS

Cheers,

Dan.

Do you think i will be safe in the exam with the slight difference?... I have a jeppersen wizz wheel too and its giving me the same answer as the larger format ASA wheel... Would hate to get questions wrong from something so basic!.

*****Correction****** Looks like my Jepp wheel gives me the answers you are getting!... I know which computer to take into the exam now, thank you!.
