MissSoph created the topic: Trip fuel

I have a question asking about max time I can be spent searching …
Gives trip fuel, to and from search area as 30 us gals…..
So I take that as the fuel I will burn … so don’t I need to work out my variable reserve on this ?
Or… if the question states it to be transit fuel…. It’s not trip fuel?

Trip fuel is all of the fuel you are going to burn from departure to overhead the destination. It doesn't include any reserves or holding fuel, it's just the actual fuel that passes through the engine during the trip (departure to overhead the destination). If you were conducting a search for a missing boat, transit fuel to and from the search area and fuel spent in the search area are simply part of the trip fuel.
