Hi, I'm currently working on a question and find myself slightly confused about the answer.

Refer Loading System BRAVO on pages 8 and 9 of the supplement.

With all occupants loaded and full fuel the aircraft weighs 2125 lbs with a "Moment/1 000 inch lbs" of 194.

The maximum baggage compartment load permitted, in kg, is closest to -
Select one:
18 kg
50 kg
23 kg
10 kg

The listed correct answer is 23 kg, and this was calculated by drawing a line between the given point and another point after 100 lbs is added to this weight.
However, upon removing the fuel to find the ZFW (1877 lbs, 171.432 moment/1000 inch lbs) and then adding 100 lbs to baggage to create the new ZFW point (1952 lbs, 182.757 moment/1000 inch lbs), I find that this is further outside the rear limit. My understanding of this loading system is that you should draw the line between the point that is further out of limits, which was in this case the ZFW. Using the ZFW, I found 18 kg was the maximum baggage that could be loaded.

Any clarification would be appreciated. Thanks.

Good man, that man (or woman, as the case may be).

You are ZFW aft CG-limited and I concur with your reasoning - my answer is around 17 kg. The suggested answer is not quite correct even when you load for the TOW aft limit. I get around 20 kg for that case. So, for me, both cases would arrive at an answer of 18 kg.

I think that the question needs a bit of revision. Mind you, I cheated and just did the sums using the Cheetah AA-5A POH data but, even allowing for some round off in the CASA manual, it should still all be near enough same, same.

Thanks for the response. I was getting an answer of 25 kg using the TOW limit, but that didn't seem right as the ZFW was more limiting.

I wouldn't fuss too much about a bit of variety running things by graphing - it's a bit rough and ready, having to read things off relatively poorly drawn graphs.

Main thing is you followed a disciplined protocol and checked multiple cases to find the critical limiting problem. Well done.
